Bio
Betty Maury, J.D., is a staff attorney with the Medical Legal Partnership at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law’s Stuart H. Smith Law Clinic and Center for Social Justice, where she provides legal advocacy and direct representation to children and families facing civil legal issues that impact health, stability, and well-being. Betty’s practice focuses on family law, interdictions, tutorships, estate planning, and broader barriers to family stability.
Before joining Loyola, Betty practiced law in private and public capacities. She served as a misdemeanor trial attorney for the Jefferson Parish Indigent Defender Board and as a senior judicial law clerk to the Honorable Lee V. Faulkner, Jr. at the 24th Judicial District Court for the Parish of Jefferson. In private practice, she is experienced as a general civil practioner, working in various legal areas, including administrative law, commercial litigation, succession and trust litigation, real property, and open accounts. Betty brings a behind-the-bench perspective to every case and provides a compassionate, holistic, and practical approach to representing clients.
Betty was born and raised in Jefferson Parish, primarily on the Westbank. She graduated from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and was named the Outstanding Loyola Family Law Clinic Student by the New Orleans Association of Women Attorneys in 2013. She advocates for access to justice, volunteers regularly with legal aid organizations, and participates in leadership roles with local non-profits and bar associations. Betty’s accolades include:

Betty served as a caretaker throughout her late husband’s courageous five-year battle with cancer. She is called to serve other caretakers and strives to make a difference in her clients’ lives through Loyola's Medical Legal Partnership.
