Competing at the regional and national level unquestionably enhances members' law school experience, provides exceptional networking opportunities, and uniquely affords practical application of academic lessons and skills. Students who wish to hone their written, oral, and negotiating advocacy skills are strongly encouraged to seek membership on our competition teams.

The Advocacy Center consists of five diverse experiential programs that prepare students for all aspects of the practice of law: Alternative Dispute Resolution, Danny and Mary Becnel Trial Advocacy, International Law, Legal Research and Writing, and Moot Court.

Reference Desk & Reference Consultations

Students are advised to seek assistance at the law library reference desk if they have any questions or issues in the library. If a librarian is not available at the desk, please speak to someone at the circulation desk or email one of the librarians to set up a research consultation.

Students participate in clinic orientation before the start of classes, after which they are sworn in to practice law as a Student Practitioner under the supervision of a Clinic Professor. Clinic students are assigned civil or criminal cases with jurisdiction in municipal, state, federal and/or administrative courts. Student Practitioners are expected to represent clients from the point of their case assignment through final disposition or the end of the course, whichever comes first.
