Sara Godchaux

Sara Godchaux is an assistant clinical professor who teaches the disability justice section of the Stuart H. Smith Law Clinic. Professor Godchaux joined the clinic in 2018 to help found the Education Project to fill a critical gap in legal representation for students and families on school discipline and special education matters in the greater New Orleans area. She served as a staff attorney and then adjunct clinic professor, assisting in teaching and supervising 3L students in the youth justice section.

Prior to joining the law clinic, Professor Godchaux worked as a civil rights attorney at the Southern Poverty Law Center in New Orleans, primarily focusing on issues around special education, school discipline, and children’s mental health care.

Professor Godchaux is a native New Orleanian and graduated magna cum laude with her B.A. in political science and French from Vanderbilt University in 2007. She graduated summa cum laude from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 2012 and was the recipient of the Spirit of Ignatius Award for her demonstrated commitment to community service and high academic achievement.
