Bio

Evan J. Bergeron joined the Advocacy Center in 2020 as its teams coordinator before being elevated to Program Director in 2021. He manages the Advocacy Center generally and oversees its constituent programs, including Alternative Dispute Resolution, International Advocacy, Moot Court, and Trial Advocacy. Evan is responsible for the overall mission of the Advocacy Center, including event planning, development, marketing, and team success.

A 2011 graduate of the Loyola New Orleans College of Law, Evan was an active member of Moot Court. He competed on Loyola's National First Amendment Team and was a national semifinalist. He also served as a member of the Moot Court Board and coached two teams to great success.

Evan also practices law with the law firm of Winston Bergeron, LLP, where he is a partner. During his career, he has tried three jury trials to verdict and seven bench trials. His most recent trial was in June 2022, where he defended a contractor against surety claims in federal court. Evan has also authored numerous briefs and writ applications to state and federal courts of appeal. He has given four appellate oral arguments, the most recent of which was before the Louisiana Third Circuit Court of Appeal in defense of a national nonprofit seeking to make charitable grants in Louisiana.

Prior to joining the Advocacy Center, Evan worked at the law firms of Deutsch Kerrigan, LLP in New Orleans and Hailey, McNamara, Hall, Larmann, & Papale, LLP in Metairie.
