Each student is required to earn eight skills credits to be certified for graduation by the Skills Curriculum Office. The list below includes elective courses students may take.
How to Prepare for the Bar Exam
Students are encouraged to attend more than the required eight courses. No tuition fee is charged for Skills Curriculum courses. The specially designed Skills Curriculum courses are taught by practitioners and judges from the local legal community. Students will examine and practice fundamental lawyering skills, including problem solving, legal analysis and reasoning, legal research, factual investigation, communication, counseling, negotiation, litigation and alternative dispute resolution procedures, organization and management, and recognizing and
resolving ethical dilemmas.
Registration
Online registration for Skills Curriculum courses is available on LORA. The Skills Curriculum Office publishes registration dates each semester. After the formal registration date, students may register in person in the Skills Curriculum Office (LS 121) or by phone at (504) 861-5574 for any available skills courses.
