1987 Alumnus Thomas J. Cortazzo Re-elected to Third Term on Baldwin Haspel Executive Committee

Tom Cortazzo ’84 (public administration and management), J.D. ’87, has been re-elected to a third term on the executive committee of Baldwin Haspel Burke & Mayer LLC in New Orleans.

Tom has been practicing law for more than 24 years. His practice consists of litigation in courts and administrative tribunals, and his experience ranges from various forms of commercial litigation to insurance matters. Tom’s practice also consists of other forms of dispute resolution such as arbitration and mediation; he is a certified mediator through the American Arbitration Association (AAA). Tom currently serves on the firm’s Executive Committee and is a member of the New Orleans, Louisiana State, American and Federal Bar Associations and various professional organizations. He has lectured on legal topics to lawyers, business groups and schools, as well as authored legal publications. Tom has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America for his work in Commercial Litigation and by New Orleans Magazine as one of their “Top Lawyers of New Orleans” for his work in Commercial Litigation and Gaming Law in 2013 and 2014; he was recognized in 2009 for Insurance and Construction Law. 

While at Loyola, Tom served as Comment/Casenote Editor of the Loyola Law Review and a moot court teaching assistant. He served as 2013-2014 President of the Loyola University School of Law Alumni Association Board.
