MaryJo Roberts, J.D. ’06, an associate in Phelps Dunbar’s New Orleans office, received the Louisiana Associate of Defense Counsel’s inaugural Frank L. Maraist award. The award recognizes young lawyers, defined as those younger than 39 or with six or fewer years of experience, who demonstrate professional excellence and service to the profession and the bar, display a commitment to pro bono work and community service, and contribute to furthering the ideals of the legal profession. Roberts is involved with many of the firm’s pro bono efforts and serves on the board of directors for InspireNOLA Charter Schools. Her labor and employment practice encompasses a range of labor and employment law disputes including Title VII and state law discrimination, harassment and retaliation litigation, Americans with Disabilities Act litigation, EEOC complaints and investigations, employment contracts, non-competition and non-solicitation agreements, confidentiality agreements, and wage and garnishment litigation.
