Enrichment Opportunities

In addition to the required coursework, faculty would provide a number of enrichment opportunities to students in the Program.

  • Speakers’ Series

Loyola’s speaker series has featured Georgetown Professor Andrew Schoenholts presenting on empirical research on asylum adjudication and Karen Musalo, Bank of America Foundation Chair in International Law, at UC Hastings College of Law, a world renowned scholar and litigator on gender based asylum claims. In addition, students in certificate classes have the opportunity to hear from practicing immigration lawyers, immigration court judges, organizations who work with immigrant communities and immigrant advocates.

  • Summer Internships

Certificate students may be eligible for paid summer internships through the Career Services Office.

  • Film Series

The certificate program features an annual film series open to the law school and university community to explore immigration issues in the national and global community.

  • Skills Courses

Students earn one skills credit courses when they take Immigration and Citizenship Law.  In addition, the skills program offers a variety of skills offering throughout the year.  In the past skills courses have been offered in criminal issues in immigration law, and the  naturalization process.
