Denise M. Pilié

Visiting Assistant Clinical Professor

Denise Pilié is a Visiting Assistant Clinical Professor for the new Mediation Section of the Loyola College of Law Clinic & Center for Social Justice.  She is also a practicing mediator and arbitrator.  She has been practicing law for 24 years, with the first 20 years spent at Stone Pigman Walther Wittmann & Hutchinson specializing in commercial litigation and employment law.  She is admitted to the Louisiana State Courts, all Federal District Courts in Louisiana, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. 

Professor Pilié began mediating in 1993 and has mediated and arbitrated approximately 600 claims throughout Louisiana and in Mississippi, Alabama, Florida and Oklahoma.  She is on the Commercial, Employment, Consumer and Large Complex Case Panels of the American Arbitration Association.  In addition, she is a Mediation Panel Member for the Louisiana State Department of Insurance Katrina/Rita Mediation Program, the Zurich Gulf Coast Claims Independent Alternative Dispute Resolution Process (Katrina and Rita claims), and the Liberty Mutual Gulf States ADR program (Katrina and Rita claims), the latter two of which are administered by the Feinberg Group out of Washington, D.C.  Over the last 15 years, she has been a mediator for the Louisiana First Circuit Court of Appeal Pilot Mediation Program, the United States District Court Middle District of Louisiana ADR Program, the United States Department of Agriculture National Finance Center, the Louisiana Rehabilitation Program, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the United States Postal Services.  She also arbitrates for the American Arbitration Association, and National Arbitration and Mediation.

Professor Pilié has taught Mediation and Arbitration at Loyola University College of Law for the last five years as an Adjunct Professor, and continues to teach this course as a Visiting Assistant Clinical Professor.  She is the Secretary-Treasurer of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section of the Louisiana State Bar Association.  She has lectured extensively on various topics involving Alternative Dispute Resolution and Employment Law.
