In September 2007, students in Professor Verchick's Georgetown-Loyola Joint
Seminar: "Recovery, Accountability, and the Law" toured the Barataria Preserve. In addition, students took a bus tour of the areas flooded by Hurricane Katrina and the levee failure in the metropolitan New Orleans area.

swamp tourIn March 2007, students in Professor Verchick's seminar, "Environmental Lessons from Hurricane Katrina," paddled with nature guide Byron Almquist to see the Manchac Wetlands, northwest of New Orleans, and to learn about the various ecosystem services these swamps and marshes provide.
