SERVICES

Career Guidance/Counseling
Counseling is offered to students on a continuous basis beginning their first year through graduation. OCS staff is available to counsel students and alumni about career objectives, job search strategies, qualifications, legal career and alternative career goals.

Résumé/Cover Letter Formulation
The Career Services staff offers workshops and provides individual assistance in the design and development of an effective résumé and cover letter that is unique to you. OCS does not prepare resumes for you (e.g. type and print). Print materials are available through the resource center on our website.

Interview Skill Development
In preparation of the interview, students are provided an opportunity to participate in a variety of services offered by OCS, including mock interviews, interviewing and interview attire workshops, a recruiter/hiring partner panel, and video/print materials.

On-Campus Recruiting Program
This offers a way for employers to achieve their legal talent needs with a cost-effective strategy, by allowing employers to interview students in a single day. During the Fall and Spring semesters, interested employers visit the law school to recruit law students to work as law clerks for the following summer or to work as associates upon graduation. If you are an employer interested in participating in the On-Campus Recruiting Program, you may call our office to receive a copy of the form.

Off-Campus Interviews/Resume Forward
Students may also submit resumes and cover letters to employers not interested in interviewing on-campus. Employers who are interested in utilizing this service can call our office at 504.861.5562. Employers may also post jobs with Career Services by filling out our online job posting form.

Job Board/EASE Law
OCS has a bulletin board with clerkship, internship, and fellowship information as well as job opportunities, writing competitions, etc. located down the hall toward the student lounge. All job opportunities as well as clerkships, internships, and fellowship positions will be posted in the student listings section of this website. Students should use the EASE Law system to submit resumes for on-campus interviews and resume collections.

Job Bulletin Exchange
The Office of Career Services exchanges job bulletins with other law schools throughout the nation. This resource provides students and alumni information on job opportunities in specific areas of the U.S. The Resource Center contains a complete list of participating schools.

Job Fairs
Loyola College of Law currently participates in several job fairs throughout the year. For more information, contact the OCS Office.

Reciprocity
OCS will assist you in procuring the use of placement offices in law schools located out of state by writing letters requesting reciprocity. This service is especially helpful to alumni who plan to relocate to another jurisdiction to practice law.

Workshops/Seminars
Each semester a broad range of informational workshops, seminars, and panel discussions are offered to the students and alumni of the College of Law. Topics range from Networking, Out of State Job Searches Strategies, Surviving OCI, What’s a Summer Associate, and Landing a Job with a Small Firm to the Realities of your 1st Year After law School. For dates and times of upcoming seminars, visit our online Career Events Calendar.
