Desireé Slaybaugh earned her J.D. from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law and her L.L.M. in Latin American & International Law from the University of Texas, where she also earned certification in Latin American Studies from the Teresa Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies. Prior to coming to Loyola, she practiced at a large plaintiff's firm in Texas and, subsequently, served as a C.V. Starr Lecturer at Peking University School of Transnational Law in Shenzhen, China teaching Transnational Legal Practice and International Human Rights Law. Her research interests include international law, federal civil procedure, and legal issues impacting the wine industry. Her current scholarship focuses on the intricacies of customary international law.
