Short Bio

Professor Chisolm earned her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where she was a senior editor and associate editor for the Law Review. Following law school, she clerked for the Honorable Consuelo B. Marshall in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. Professor Chisolm then practiced as an entertainment and intellectual property litigator, primarily in the Los Angeles office of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld LLP, prior to starting her own practice in 2010 as a private general counsel, mediator and arbitrator. Throughout her legal career, Professor Chisolm has consistently dedicated time to pro bono work, including: facilitating adoptions for foster parents and relative caregivers; assisting domestic violence victims with obtaining restraining orders; acting as guardian ad litem for minor plaintiffs; and mediating cases as part of the Los Angeles County Superior Court pro bono mediator panel. Prior to beginning her legal career, Professor Chisolm worked for Fortune 100 companies as a research and development engineer in the biotechnology and specialty chemical industries. She earned her Sc.B. in Engineering, with a biomedical concentration, from Brown University, and she earned her M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Lehigh University.

Professor Chisolm’s research interests are rooted in intellectual property rights as they relate to sports and entertainment, and, in particular, patent law as it relates to patient rights and impacts consumer access to critical developments in medical treatments.
