Regular and punctual attendance is required.
The following chart shows the 80 percent attendance rule. In most semesters, there are 14 class meetings per semester on each day.
|Number of meetings||Attend||Absent||Total|
|1 per week||12||2||14|
|2 per week||23||5||28|
|3 per week||34||8||42|
|4 per week||45||11||56|
Attend = minimum number of classes that must be attended
Absent = maximum number of classes able to be skipped
Total = total number of class meetings in the semester
Failure to attend 80% of classes could result in students not being allowed to sit for exams in the overcut class. Excessive absences will result in a grade of UW. Students who receive notice of not being able to sit for a given exam can petition the Petitions Committee. Upon a showing of compelling hardship and in exceptional circumstances, the petitions committee may relieve a student of the attendance requirement or give NO relief, in its discretion.
