Achievements

Professor Emeritus James Klebba traveled to Russia this September to teach a “mini-course” to LL.M. students at Moscow State University.  53 students were enrolled in the course which ran from September 12th through the 20th.  

In partnership with professors at UCLA, Univ. of Michigan, and Denver Sturm College of Law, Andrea Armstrong co-organized the bi-annual Prisoners' Advocates Conference in Los Angeles, CA September 22-24. She also participated as a panelist and a moderator for a panel on Race and Conditions of Confinement.

Professor R. Judson Mitchell co-presented "Creating a Continuum of Legal Services through Technological Support" at the 2016 Louisiana Justice Community Conference on October 13.  The session covered the ways technological advances are increasing access to legal services and resources that not only benefit the public, but also the attorney, resulting in increased access.

The Council considered an ordinance that would have individuals accused of low-level municipal offenses released on their own recognizance, rather than being jailed if they cannot afford a bond.

Louisiana DWI presents a broad overview of the [driving while intoxicated] laws in Louisiana. The text serves as a guide to prosecutors, defense attorneys, and judges who have to apply and interpret Louisiana DWI laws.

Professor Kalb’s article, Human Rights Proxy Wars, was accepted for publication in the upcoming issue of Stanford Journal of Civil Rights and Civil Liberties.

Finger works tirelessly to provide legal assistance to the underserved and she works tirelessly with new lawyers and law students to shape new lawyers.

Quigley was part of a team of lawyers challenging money bail requirements in criminal courts. The Trial Lawyer of the Year Award is awarded to the attorneys who made the greatest contribution to the public interest within the past year by trying or settling a precedent-setting, socially significant case.
