Two Loyola Alumni Elected Partner at Frilot, L.L.C.

Kathleen “Katie” Pontier Rice, J.D. ’07, and Everett Fineran ’04 (finance), J.D. ’07, were recently elected partner at the firm Frilot LLC in New Orleans.  Rice focuses on the Admiralty and Maritime Practice Area, working cases involving admiralty issues, including Jones Act and personal injury defense, charter disputes, collisions, allisions and marine insurance.  Rice also works in the diverse field of commercial litigation and on a range of cases involving product liability litigation.

During her time at Loyola, Rice served as President of the Student Bar Association and was a member of the Moot Court Staff. After graduating cum laude, Rice joined the Frilot firm as an associate in August 2007, after clerking at Frilot the previous summer. 

Fineran practices with the firm's Commercial Litigation and Mass Tort and Class Action Sections, focusing primarily on complex litigation such as that involving the BP oil spill. He also handles a variety of claims ranging from personal injury defense for trucking companies to general commercial insurance litigation and dispute resolution between large corporations.  Additionally, Fineran is an Adjunct Law Professor at the Loyola University College of Law, where he teaches Louisiana Civil Procedure. He is a co-author of Equity Research (Esq. Books 2011), a graduate-level finance textbook.
