Professor Marianne Cufone Appointed to USDA Advisory Task Force

Professor Marianne Cufone has been tapped by the United States Department of Agriculture’s National Organic Standards Board to serve on an advisory task force.  The Hydroponic and Aquaponic Task Force is tasked with exploring water cultivation practices and their alignment with USDA regulations.  According to the USDA website, “Task force members will research and prepare a report on the current state of technologies and practices for hydroponics and aquaponics, and how those practices do or do not align with the USDA organic regulations.” The task force reports to the National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) and is expected to present their report next fall.

In addition to her duties as an adjunct professor of environmental law at Loyola, Cufone serves as Executive Director of the Recirculating Farms Coalition.
