The American Association of Law Schools Section on Legal Writing, Reasoning and Research has nominated Loyola professor and alumna Mary Garvey Algero as a 2015 member-at-large of its Executive Committee. The LWRR Section will move to approve Algero and other nominated officers at the Section business meeting on Sunday, January 4, 2015.
Algero is the Warren E. Mouledoux Distinguished Professor of Law. She directs the Legal Research and Writing Program and co-directs the Westerfield Fellows Program. She is the author of Louisiana Legal Research and co-author of Federal Legal Research, both books published by Carolina Academic Press. She has published articles on issues of federal civil procedure and jurisdiction, the Louisiana civil law system, and the contracts clause and frequently presents on her scholarship and on teaching at professional conferences. She is a former president of the Association of Legal Writing Directors and has served on the editorial board of Legal Writing: The Journal of the Legal Writing Institute. She teaches courses primarily focused on civil procedure, federal courts, legal research and writing, and ethics.
