Lynsey Rae Johnson won the 22nd LSBA Environmental Law essay contest awarded by the Environmental Law section of the Louisiana State Bar Association. In her casenote, “Arkansas Game and Fish Commission v. United States: Dam If You Do, Dam If You Don’t,” Lynsey discusses the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in this case and concludes that the Court developed an appropriate rule, but misapplied that rule to the facts of the case. Lynsey wrote this paper as part of her work in the Advanced Legal Writing course. In recognition of her paper, Lynsey has been invited to the section’s annual meeting, where she will be presented with a check for $2000!
Her achievement has been featured in an article in the Baton Rouge Advocate.
Additionally, Lynsey has been selected by the ASFPM Foundation to receive the 2013 Nick Winter Memorial Scholarship for Floodplain Management.
