3L Maria Deguzman Accepted into US Navy JAG Corps Student Program

Maria Deguzman, a third year law student, was accepted through the Navy JAG Corps' Student Program in May 2015.  She completed the commissioning requirements this summer and had a commissioning ceremony aboard the USS Midway in San Diego, CA this October.  Maria will remain on inactive reserve status until she graduates from law school and passes a state bar, which she plans to take in her home state of Hawaii.

She will attend Officer Development School in Newport, Rhode Island while awaiting the results of her bar exam. After successfully passing the bar, Maria will report for active duty and begin her JAG Corps career at the Naval Justice School, which is also located in Newport, Rhode Island. She has not yet received orders for her first duty station, but hopes to be stationed in Europe.
