María Teresa González, J.D. '12, was recently elected president of the Puerto Rican Bar Association of Illinois. The group's chief goals are "...to promote high standards of intergroup, honor, competence among Hispanic attorneys…to promote legal education… and to foster understanding of and respect for the law."
Ms. González currently serves as a Cook County Assistant Public Defender. She recently addressed a new class of attorneys at a swearing-in ceremony at the James R. Thompson Center Assembly Hall.
Following her graduation from Loyola, Ms. González clerked for the Hon. Judge Gustavo A. Gelpí, U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico.
