Barrett R. Stephens, J.D. ’07, has joined the New Orleans firm of Lewis & Caplan as an attorney. Mr. Stephens specializes in Civil Litigation with a concentration in Catastrophic Personal Injury, 18 Wheeler Accidents, Company/Commercial and Other Motor Vehicle Accidents, Premises Liability, Property Damage, and Other Personal Injury and Death Litigation in State and Federal Courts.
While at Loyola, Barrett was a member of Law Review and of the Moot Court National Team.
A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Mr. Stephens was deployed in Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Upon completing service with the Marines, he received honorable discharge at the rank of Sergeant. He later clerked for the Honorable Lance M. Africk in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. Barrett has been named as a Rising Star by the SuperLawyers publication. He has successfully argued before the Louisiana Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal, en banc, as well as the Louisiana Supreme Court causing new rulings regarding the availability of uninsured/underinsured motorist insurance coverage to guest passengers in automobiles.
