1990 Alumnus Richard Busch Honored by Tennessee Legislature

John Cummings, J.D. ’90 has been honored by the State of Tennessee House of Representatives in a proclamation dated August 18th.  In the proclamation, Speaker of the House of Representatives Beth Harwell joins Representative Jeremy Durham to “hearby proclaim that we honor and commend Richard Busch for his many significant contributions to the entertainment industry and extend him our best wishes for every future success.”

In March, Busch won a nearly $7.4 million copyright lawsuit against Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams, convincing a federal jury that their 2013 hit “Blurred Lines” too closely copied Marvin Gaye’s 1977 song “Got to Give It Up.”  Busch is a partner in the Nashville firm of King & Ballow.  Billboard Magazine has repeatedly named him one of music’s most powerful attorneys.
