Courses Taught

Bobby Marzine Harges primarily teaches Mediation and Arbitration, Evidence, Criminal Law, and Criminal Procedure. He has also taught courses in Insurance Law and Torts.

Mediation Training Courses and Seminars

Harges teaches a three (3) credit Mediation and Arbitration seminar for second and third year law students each spring. Additionally, he teaches a five (5) day, forty (40) hour Divorce Mediation Training Seminar for the Loyola University New Orleans College of Law Institute for Continuing Legal Education each summer. Additionally, he conducts Negotiation and Basic and Advanced Mediation Training Seminars for employers, bar associations, law firms and various other organizations.

Publications

Mr. Harges has written and lectured extensively on ADR, Torts and Evidence. He was presented the Stephen T. Victory Memorial Award for the outstanding scholarly article published in the Louisiana Bar Journal during 1995-1996. He has also co-authored several books on Louisiana evidence law.

Experience

After graduating from law school, Mr. Harges practiced law in New Orleans. In 1990, he began teaching at the University of Mississippi School of Law, and in 1992 returned to New Orleans to teach at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law.

Mediation Training and Teaching Experience

Mr. Harges received his initial mediation training in 1990 from the Harvard Mediation Program, and his advanced and family mediation training from the American Arbitration Association and the Family Mediation Council of Louisiana, Inc. As an experienced mediator, arbitrator, and attorney-chair of medical review panels, Mr. Harges has conducted mediation and arbitration training programs for hundreds of lawyers, judges and other professionals. He has provided conflict resolution training to human resources personnel, managers and other staff members for the following companies and corporations: Boeing, Lockheed Martin, USDA National Finance Center, McGlinchey Stafford, Attorneys at Law, Baton Rouge Association of Realtors, and the Veterans Association Medical Center Surgical Services Center.

Membership in Professional Organizations

Mr. Harges is a member and past chair of the ADR Section of the Louisiana State Bar Association, a member of the Mississippi Bar ADR Section and past co-chair of Mississippi Bar ADR Committee, and a member of the Family Mediation Council of Louisiana Inc. Mr. Harges is also a member of the task force that was formed to develop and implement a pilot program for mediation for the Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans, Louisiana.
